At the helm of Ice Axe Expeditions is one of the world’s leading polar explorers, Doug Stoup. Secluded rugged peaks have always been a home-away-from-home for Stoup, who started his career as a distinguished expedition guide in the late 1980’s. Stoup is a visionary who continues to push the limits of global expedition, advocacy of protection of polar environments and education of today’s youth on the importance of protecting the planet. But, his passions and expertise aren’t limited to below 32 degrees.

From the depths of the Brazilian Amazon to the Indian Ocean, Expedition Terra is trading 8,000’ peaks for lush landscapes and the salt of the sea, backcountry skiing for surfing and awakening yoga practices. ‘Terra’ meaning Earth in Portugese, the native language in Brazil where the idea for Expedition Terra was conceptualized on our maiden trip - the Amazon River SUP & Yoga Cruise.
