Overview

Four volcanoes, seven days, one lodge in the Araucanía region.

This seven-day experience explores four of the Andean Araucanía’s most prominent volcanoes—Lonquimay, Llaima, Tolhuaca, and Sierra Nevada—with Casa Río Lodge as the base throughout the trip. Guests are transferred from Temuco to Malalcahuello, where days are structured around guided ascents, ski descents, and time to rest and recover at the lodge. Each volcano offers distinct terrain, elevation, and perspective on the surrounding landscape, including views of neighboring peaks, national parks, and native forests.

The itinerary balances climbing days with a scheduled rest day, allowing time to enjoy the lodge or the surrounding area between objectives. All breakfasts and dinners are served at Casa Río Lodge, with shared transportation and professional guides throughout. The experience concludes with a return transfer to Temuco, completing a focused, point-to-point journey through one of Chile’s most active and varied volcanic regions.

Itinerary

Group pickup at Temuco Airport and shared transfer to Malalcahuello (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes). Arrival at Casa Río Lodge, room assignment, and time to settle in. The afternoon is free to enjoy the lodge and surrounding area. Dinner at the lodge.

  2. Day 2

Guided ascent of Lonquimay Volcano (2,865 m). From the summit, enjoy views of Sierra Nevada, Llaima, Villarrica, Tolhuaca, Callaqui, Antuco, and Lanín volcanoes. Ski descent followed by a return to Casa Río Lodge. Free afternoon to relax or use the lodge facilities. Dinner at the lodge.

  3. Day 3

Ascent of Llaima Volcano, the second-highest peak in the Andean Araucanía at over 3,100 m. Known for its long snowfields and steep terrain, Llaima is an active volcano, and the summit often reveals visible steam and volcanic gases. Ski descent and return to the lodge. Free afternoon. Dinner at the lodge.

  4. Day 4
