Itinerary – Ski Touring the Cordillera Blanca

Itinerary

June 28: Arrival to Lima Airport – Transfer to your Hotel
Upon your arrival to the airport in Lima you will be transferred to your hotel.

June 29: Lima to Huaraz
After your breakfast, we will take a bus from Lima to Huaraz (408 km, takes about 8–9 hours). Transfer to hotel upon you arrival in Huaraz.

June 30: Acclimatization Day – Tour to Churup Lake (4,450m)
7:30am transfer to Pitec (1 hour).  Acclimatization hike for 3 hours to Churup Lake, return to Pitec then transfer to Huaraz.

July 1: Huaraz – Llaca Valley – Moraine Camp
You will be picked up from your hotel then transferred from Huaraz to Llaca Valley we you will hike up for 2 to 3 hours to Moraine Base Camp at 4,850m. In camp you’ll check your climbing and ski equipment for the next day.

July 2: Moraine Camp – Vallunaraju Summit (5,686m) – Moraine Camp – Huaraz
Summit and ski descent day, early start at 3:00am for 3 hour summit with views of Huascarán (6,768m), Tocllaraju (6,034m), and more. Ski descent to Moraine Camp, then back to Llaca Valley and transfer back to Huaraz Hotel.

July 3: Huaraz – Llanganuco – Pisco Base Camp
You will be picked up from your hotel then transferred along the Callejon de Huaylas valley, passing small cities such as Marcara, Carhuaz, and Yungay then continue through llanganuco Valley heading east into the mountains to the wide and pastoral valley between Huascarán to the south and Huandoy to the north. In Yuraccoral we will start hiking up for 3 hours to Pisco Base Camp at 4600m.

July 4: Base Camp – Summit Pisco 5,752m – Base Camp
Early in the morning after our fast breakfast approx. 12:00am we will climb about 40 minutes onto the moraine until we reach the glacier, we will put on crampons and rope up. Approximately 4 hours to reach the top, incredible views and with strategic viewpoints there will be many opportunities to photograph to Artesonraju (6025m), Chacraraju, Huandoy, Chopicalqui (6354m) and Huascaran (6768m). Return by ski to moraine camp for hot soup then continue to the Base Camp.

July 5: Base Camp – Llanganuco – Huaraz Hotel
After the breakfast we will go to the town of Yuraccorral to begin our transfer to Huaraz passing the llanganuco lakes and Huascaran National Park before arriving to Huaraz at approximately 2 or 3 p.m.

July 6: Huaraz Rest day
Rest day and preparation for the next ski days.

July 7: Huaraz – Pashpa – Ishinca Base Camp 4,300m
After breakfast we will drive from Huaraz, heading north to the town of Pashpa, approximately one hour from Huaraz. From Pashpa we hike for 4–5 hours to Ishinca base camp at 4,300m.

July 8: Base Camp – Ishinca Summit 5,560m – Base Camp
Early in the morning after breakfast approx. 1:00am we will hike about 4 hours, then a final 2 hour push to reach the summit (5,560m). Ski descent to Moraine Camp then final descent to base camp, overnight camping.

July 9: Base Camp – Moraine Camp (4,900m)
After breakfast in Base Camp, and checking all climbing and skiing gear, 3 hour hike to Moraine Camp (4,900m). Overnight in Moraine Camp.

July 10: Moraine Camp – Summit Tocllaraju 6,034m – Base Camp
Early in the morning after breakfast approx. 1:00am we will hike about 5 hours to reach the summit. Ski descent to Moraine Camp then final descent to base camp.

July 11: Base Camp – Pashpa – Huaraz
In the morning, after breakfast around 8:00am, we will pack up and go down to Pashpa and transfer back to Huaraz. Overnight in hotel.

July 12: Huaraz – Lima
We will depart by bus for Lima. Upon arrival to Lima bus station you will transfer to your hotel or directly to the Lima Airport.
