Andrew McLean has skied all seven continents, been on over 25 ski mountaineering expeditions and completed over 150 first descents. Prior to joining the Ice Axe Expeditions family in 2007, he was a Designer at Black Diamond Equipment where he created products like the HotWire carabiner, single stem Camalots and his personal favorite, the Whippet Self Arrest ski pole. He has written for numerous skiing magazines and published “The Chuting Gallery – A Guide to Steep Skiing in the Wasatch Mountains.”
McLean lives in Park City, Utah with his wife Polly, two loud little girls and two sleepy dogs.
