Rich has been a professional ski guide, avalanche instructor, and mountaineering guide for over 15 years. His work has varied from single day backcountry ski tours in Tahoe, to international ski expeditions. Rich has been lucky enough to guide, travel, ski, and summit peaks in places such as: Canada, France, Italy, Switzerland, Tanzania, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Alaska, and Antarctica. As well as scores of Sierra Nevada summits. When Rich isn’t out skiing and guiding snowy peaks, he is teaching courses in avalanche safety, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, and ski mountaineering. Rich is constantly striving to expand his skills with extensive education from: the AMGA, AIARE, NOLS, WMI, PSIA, and many other organizations. Promoting the human powered outdoor experience is a big part of Rich’s passion and work, both locally and nationally. He feels strongly that protecting our natural environment and educating skiers and climbers about our winter wild places has to be a priority.
